Hunter x Hunter Episode 78: Very x Rapid x Reproduction

The episode shows the Chimera Ant colony expanding at an alarming rate while Kite, Gon, Killua, and their allies narrow down where the Queen is hiding. By the end, the Queen has established her nest and orders her soldiers to capture more humans so she can give birth to the King, while the hunters head toward NGL to investigate.

The episode opens with the Queen directing Colt to bring her more humans to eat. As she feeds, she rapidly gives birth to more squadron leaders, soldiers, and carpenter ants, and the carpenter ants begin building the nest around her.

Colt and the soldiers spread out to gather human prey. The episode emphasizes how dangerous Chimera Ants have become, with the narration explaining that once they grow large enough, humans have virtually no chance against them. A village is then shown in danger as a swarm approaches; at first one of the villagers is confused, but panic breaks out when everyone realizes the ants are descending on them.

Back at the ant base, the Queen continues to grow stronger and more demanding. She receives a signal from her squadron leaders and gathers them together, announcing that from this point on she will focus entirely on giving birth to the King.

Meanwhile, Kite’s group uses evidence from the Chimera Ant arm that washed ashore, along with tide and current data, to trace the ants’ origin. Their investigation leads them to conclude that the ants are tied to NGL, a secluded region with strict anti-technology policies that would make communication and investigation difficult. As a result, the hunters prepare to go there themselves.

The episode ends with the situation escalating on both sides: the Queen’s colony is multiplying quickly, and Kite’s party is moving toward NGL to confirm the threat firsthand.
