Kite, along with Gon, Killua, and a group of Amateur Hunters—Banana, Lin, Monta, Podungo, Spinner, and Stick—arrive at the Mitene Union, traveling from the Republic of Rokario to NGL in search of Chimera Ants. The driver describes the unusual ways of NGL's people and notes that the group seems equally odd for going there. He mentions having taken ten other groups to NGL, surprising Gon. Kite concludes they are the final group to arrive.

Pokkle rides his horse with Ponzu on his back, joined by Pekuba and Balda, as they search in NGL. Pokkle speculates that many other professional hunters are also pursuing the unknown species based on gathered intelligence. Ponzu asks if the large insects threaten humans. Pokkle reflects on reports from hunters, conveyed via recorded messages, suggesting these creatures might be an entirely different life form. He notes NGL is a vast nature reserve with many undocumented organisms, anticipating bizarre, human-attacking insects. Despite the risks, Pokkle, a Magical Beast Hunter, is excited by the prospect and eager for results. Ponzu embraces him from behind in a gesture of support.

At the Chimera Ant base, Squadron Leaders gather as Peggy briefs them on scout intelligence: a newly discovered human village at MA18 in the southwest. Cheetu and Zazan express satisfaction. Peggy adds the village to their targets and designates Colt to lead the mission. Cheetu, dismayed at being overlooked, questions Peggy's rationale. Peggy explains he needs Cheetu's skills for operations in the northwest, as initially planned, and asks Zazan to join him. Zazan states no significant villages remain in that area, but Cheetu insists on the thrill of pursuing the remaining unskilled inhabitants. Colt firmly reminds Cheetu their purpose is to serve the Queen, and the mission's primary objective is to capture a specified number of humans without deviation. Cheetu acknowledges this and assures success, a sentiment Zazan echoes. However, Zazan cautions Colt not to scrutinize her hunting methods, asserting her intention to pursue her own exhilarating approach, especially when chasing fleeing humans. This incites a reaction from Colt. Cheetu interjects, advising Colt to temper his agitation. Colt assesses their methodologies, concluding such a cavalier attitude could disintegrate their squadron. Peggy recognizes that while naming is advantageous for leadership, preventing excessive individuality is crucial. Colt expands on this, warning individualism might cause a breakdown of command, necessitating decisive action. Peggy concurs.

Meleoron, summoned, manifests and reports that Yunju is absent from the council, pursuing personal interests. Peggy and Colt confront him about Yunju's whereabouts. Meleoron divulges Yunju has embarked on a solitary mission to hunt humans, specifically those who resist and bear arms, intending to capture them as pets.

An armed group flees from Yunju, accompanied by Mosquito and Centipede, as he mocks the panicked individuals running toward their demise.

Kite, Gon, Killua, and the Amateur Hunters arrive at the NGL border. They walk toward a border checkpoint defined by two immense, interconnected trees. Border officials inquire about their visit. Kite informs them they are hunting a potential quarantine-level organism. Recognizing their status as hunters, the representative invites them to enter.

Killua observes computers and machinery inside the checkpoint. The official clarifies this area is outside NGL's borders, serving as a hub for foreign relations and information exchange. Kite asks if similar facilities exist within NGL. The representative replies none exist, as all machines and electronic devices are strictly prohibited. He elaborates that any unremovable bodily implants, dental work, gold, silver, coins, or silicone enhancements will bar entry. The group proceeds to an upstairs shop, where only Gon, Killua, Kite, Stick, and Podungo change clothes. The remaining members, instructed by Kite, are to wait in the nearest town and return to the checkpoint in two weeks to reestablish contact.

Another official leads the group into a room for a thorough physical examination and interview, including metal detection, X-ray, and ultrasound scanning. Kite notes the equipment signifies high security. The official informs them some individuals attempt to smuggle firearms by concealing components within their bodies. As the group proceeds, officials elaborate on illegal items hidden internally. After passing the tests, the group receives clearance to cross into NGL. Once inside, Kite signals that the hunt has begun.

While riding horses, Kite reflects on the official's information about insects. He asks if any such creatures have been reported, to which the official replies no. The official reassures him that if these creatures existed, NGL inhabitants would not be alarmed. Even if attacks or fatalities occurred, locals would likely attribute it to the natural order.

Gon devises a plan to search every area, convinced that if they find nothing, the insects are likely absent. Killua counters that they must assume their information sources are truthful. As Gon and Killua discuss, they notice individuals still tailing them. Kite approaches, recognizing that NGL inhabitants would be unhelpful. He asserts with conviction that the insects undoubtedly inhabit this country, trusting his instincts.

Elsewhere, a terrified man confronts a Koala in a suit, declaring the Koala has no authority to issue commands, as humans are superior. Unbothered, Koala sips from his gourd and replies he doesn’t understand, then asks how they are any different. Enraged, the man strikes the Koala with a large tree trunk, but the blow has no effect. Koala then sips from his gourd and spits a torrent of water onto the man's face. The water surges with unnatural force, causing the man's body to crumple lifelessly.

Meleoron, emerging from camouflage, confronts Koala, stating killing the man was tactically unwise as they cannot store the body properly. Koala calmly responds he just serves another food to the Queen. He admits irritation with people like the one he just killed, whose arrogance stems from ignorance. He adds he prefers it when they run, consumed by terror.

Meleoron reminds Koala this isn’t the first unnecessary death, mentioning another person killed yesterday. He urges Koala to ease up and let him handle future situations with more finesse, emphasizing smarter methods for securing prey. As Koala’s Squadron Leader, Meleoron says he will overlook this incident, considering himself lenient. He playfully advises Koala that if killing brings such satisfaction, he should volunteer for the feeding squad. Meleoron vanishes back into camouflage, leaving Koala alone, his expression hardening with quiet defiance.

Colt and his squadron soar through the skies, capturing villagers. Mid-flight, Colt notices an ant named Rammot holding a distressed child. Irritated by the child's crying, Rammot orders him to be quiet or threatens to eat him. Colt intervenes, demanding an explanation. Rammot nonchalantly replies the child is merely cargo, part of their food haul. Colt warns Rammot to exercise better judgment in choosing prey, pointing out the child is of no value and reminding him their quota is fulfilled. Rammot mutters he’ll just eat the child. Colt's tone grows stern, warning Rammot to follow orders. Rammot releases the child and walks away without protest.

Koala is spotted by other ants under Zazan after killing an armed man. With a serious expression, he explains his enjoyment of his work and their current circumstances under Zazan's leadership. He suggests they join Yunju’s team, where they have the freedom to kill any humans they wish. To improve their chances of acceptance, Koala advises them to present the corpse as a gift to Yunju’s group.

Pokkle and his group investigate a body, discussing who might have committed the murder. They discover a gun, raising alarms since firearms are prohibited in NGL; they suspect locals are battling each other. Pokkle identifies the body as an NGL underworld member but realizes humans did not inflict the wounds. They remain uncertain if ants are responsible. Pokkle considers the dire implications: if these murders are the work of the suspected species, his current team may be ill-equipped. Just then, a squadron of ants confronts them. Pokkle swiftly instructs Ponzu, Bara, and Pekuba to flee at his signal.

As the ant squadron draws near, Pokkle activates his Nen ability, Red Arrow, launching it at the head of an approaching ant, which collapses. He signals his team to flee. In the distance, Bara, Pekuba, and Ponzu sprint. Ponzu stumbles, and two ants close in. Pokkle emerges, unleashing Red Arrows to strike down the attackers. The group regroups, and Pokkle advises Ponzu to contact other hunters for immediate assistance, recognizing the escalating danger.

Yunju's group unleashes chaos across underworld bases, leaving a trail of bodies. Alongside Mosquito and Centipede, Yunju relentlessly hunts survivors. Meanwhile, a member named Zaikhal, with a comrade, arrives at their commander's office to find him lifeless beside his desk. Gon, Killua, Kite, Stick, and Podungo continue riding their horses down to NGL.
