Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 31: Evening Festival

The episode opens with the ongoing battle between the giant mech piloted by Kokichi Muta (Mechamaru from the Kyoto School) and Mahito. Mahito survives a near point-blank ultra cannon blast from the mech and darts around the battlefield, dodging its massive punches and kicks.

Kokichi realizes his standard attacks cannot damage Mahito's soul, so he activates a charge of cursed energy accumulated over two years and unleashes a **Miracle Cannon** into a body of water where Mahito hides. Mahito avoids lasting damage but emerges with his clothes burned off; he enlarges his fist and delivers a powerful punch to Mechamaru's face, shaking Kokichi's cockpit and warning him that further offense from Mahito could be fatal.

Mechamaru presses the assault with a barrage of attacks, including flipping Mahito off with a blade finger that impales him, forcing Mahito to transfigure his body into chimerical forms while fleeing and dodging. Kokichi attempts to contact Satoru Gojo during the fight but fails, growing desperate as Mahito adapts and counterattacks relentlessly.

Mahito ultimately overwhelms Mechamaru, leading to Kokichi's defeat and apparent death amid the destroyed landscape. Mahito regroups with a man resembling a monk (referred to as G), who asks if the fight was more dangerous than expected; Mahito claims he blew himself up on purpose to deceive Kokichi and dismisses any real threat.

With the "warmup" over, G and Mahito reveal that final preparations for the **Shibuya Incident** are complete. Ten days later, on October 31st just after 7:00 p.m., a massive 40-meter curtain descends over Shibuya during its evening Halloween festival, trapping civilians inside. A public announcement states they cannot leave until Satoru Gojo arrives.

Jujutsu sorcerer teams, including Kusakabe, receive orders to stand by outside the curtain and eliminate anything that escapes once Gojo enters; no cellular signal works inside, but civilians face no immediate danger. Kusakabe notes special grade cursed spirits likely lurk underground.

Around 8:31 p.m., Satoru Gojo arrives at the scene and enters the curtain.
