Jujutsu Kaisen Episode 45: Metamorphosis

Transfigured humans burst from the ground across Shibuya as Yuji and Todo return to the surface, where Mahito confronts them and demands they curse one another as a final test. Todo claps his hands, using his Boogie Woogie technique to swap Yuji and Mahito's positions, allowing Yuji to land a kick—but Mahito rapidly twists and tears off his own head to evade the attack.

The fight intensifies as Mahito activates his Domain Expansion, experiencing burnout from the technique. He strikes Todo with a powerful punch enhanced by cursed energy and Black Flash, sending the grade one sorcerer away, though Todo survives the blow. Throughout the battle, Todo repeatedly reveals hidden capabilities of his Boogie Woogie technique, conditioning Mahito to expect new applications—first teleporting only others, then himself, then swapping people with objects. At one point, Todo fakes an ability he doesn't possess, clapping his remaining hand against his stump as if to activate another technique, and Mahito reacts defensively because everything Todo has demonstrated so far has worked.

Mahito undergoes a dramatic transformation after taking a direct Black Flash hit from Yuji, realizing the "true shape" of his soul and transcending beyond his original form. His new body proves far more resilient; Yuji's superhuman punches become useless against him, and Mahito injures Yuji repeatedly with elbow blades before grabbing him by the face and slamming him into the ground, creating a massive crater.

Weakened and heavily injured, Mahito attempts to regurgitate his stockpiled transfigured humans to continue fighting, only to realize he has exhausted his supply. As Mahito begins to despair, Yuji stands over him and makes a critical admission: he and Mahito are the same. Yuji declares his sole intention is to kill Mahito and all curses, abandoning his previous denials and embracing a colder, more ruthless purpose. This moment marks Yuji's transformation into a killer willing to sacrifice his own principles.

The confrontation is interrupted by the arrival of Geto, who offers to save Mahito, cutting short the final standoff between the two combatants.
