My Hero Academia Episode 107: More of a Hero Than Anyone

Class 1-A returns to school after their work studies, and the new term begins with a normal training session that quickly reveals how much has changed for the students. Midoriya talks about having gained better control over his power, which draws teasing from Bakugo, while the class settles back into routine under All Might’s instruction. Then Shota Aizawa and Hizashi Yamada are abruptly called away by Principal Nezu, leaving the students behind as the story shifts to a far more serious matter.

Aizawa and Hizashi are sent to Tartarus, where they meet Inspector Naomasa Tsukauchi and Gran Torino. There, the two heroes learn that the captured figure known as Kurogiri is being investigated because he is believed to be a Nomu: an artificially created human corpse engineered to withstand multiple Quirks and usually thought to lack its own will. The investigation has found something even more disturbing: Kurogiri’s Warp Gate ability appears to be a combination of multiple Quirks, and the base body is linked to a former U.A. student, Oboro Shirakumo, a friend of Aizawa and Hizashi who died during their school years.

Aizawa and Hizashi are then brought in to question Kurogiri directly. Kurogiri is initially unresponsive, but when the two teachers speak to him, Hizashi realizes that the mist around Kurogiri is surviving Erasure, suggesting that it is not just an external effect but part of his body. Kurogiri then speaks in a way that shocks both men, asking after Tomura Shigaraki and calling concern for him part of his duty. That statement hits Aizawa especially hard, because it echoes the kindness and selflessness he remembers from Oboro Shirakumo.

Aizawa speaks directly to Kurogiri as if to his old friend, remembering Oboro as someone who would stop to help someone as small as a kitten and who naturally drew others forward with his warmth. He contrasts that memory with his own growth into a stricter teacher who expels and reenrolls students on paper if necessary, saying he asked Nezu for permission to teach the difference between *self-sacrifice* and throwing one’s life away. In tears, he tells Oboro that they can still be heroes. Kurogiri’s mind briefly reacts, his face flickering through the smoke as he forces out the word “hospital” before collapsing back into his inert state.

The episode then shows the fallout from that breakthrough: Naomasa sends the information onward, and the lead reaches Hawks through a disguised request connected to the Commission. The final scene cuts to a laboratory where a doctor enthusiastically encourages Tomura during a painful operation, indicating that a separate and disturbing process is underway involving him.
