My Hero Academia Episode 127: Hellish Hell

Izuku Midoriya opens the episode by narrating the official aftermath of the Paranormal Liberation War, as reported by the Hero Public Safety Commission. He explains that the heroes’ victory came at a devastating cost, with many wounded heroes sent to hospitals and numerous villains captured or defeated across the country.

The episode then shows the Commission’s attempt to meet with Rikiya Yotsubashi at headquarters. What appears to be a business discussion turns into an arrest operation, with heroes and police moving in to take him into custody; however, the person present is actually a fake. The impersonator launches a sudden attack on the building, killing and injuring several people, including the Commission President, before disintegrating from his injuries. In his final words, he says that his side wants “order without order,” true freedom, and that the seeds of their plan have already been planted.

The episode continues with a series of after-action reports and brief flashbacks showing the scale of the war’s damage. In Jaku, Dr. Kyudai Garaki is arrested and interrogated, Gigantomachia is airlifted away, Mr. Compress is taken to the hospital, and several Nomu are secured. At Gunga Mountain Villa, Re-Destro and Geten are defeated and captured, along with Trumpet and thousands of Paranormal Liberation Front members, while other raids across the country lead to additional arrests of PLF members and pro-hero collaborators.

One portion of the episode focuses on the public-facing report of the war’s aftermath, emphasizing how many heroes were injured and how large-scale the villain arrests were. Another part reveals Garaki’s deposition, in which he states that Tomura Shigaraki died when Mirko destroyed the capsule meant to revive him, and that he was brought back not by the electric shock but by All For One’s power, along with Tomura’s own dreams and hatred.

The episode also shows the emotional toll on the heroes and students. Search teams and rescue workers comb the battlefield, and the survivors are forced to confront the dead and the destruction left behind. Ochaco Uraraka and Tsuyu Asui are among those helping with rescue efforts, and Momo Yaoyorozu and the others eventually find Midnight’s body in the forest. The episode makes clear that several heroes died in the battle, and that the loss is weighing heavily on everyone involved.

The final stretch shifts to the broader impact on society, with the heroes struggling to manage public reaction to the war and the revelations that came out of it. The episode ends on a grim note as Tomura Shigaraki escapes with Nomu and surviving allies, while All For One’s influence remains active and the conflict is clearly far from over.
