My Hero Academia Episode 138: No Man Is an Island

All Might goes to Kamino Ward to recover the remains of Izuku Midoriya’s torn-up costume and is overwhelmed by guilt, blaming himself for not being able to help when Izuku needed him most. While he is there, a nearby man confronts him and reveals himself as Stain, who has been watching from the shadows and now approaches All Might in silence.

Back at U.A.’s dorms, Izuku is finally brought inside and cleaned up by his classmates after being returned safely to U.A. The boys help wash off the grime of his time away, and in the common room Izuku asks about Ochaco Uraraka, only to learn she has fallen asleep as soon as she finished speaking to the crowd. The atmosphere among the students is relieved and noisy, but the episode shows that everyone is still emotionally worn down by what Izuku has been through.

The heroes then piece together new information about All For One’s plan from Stain’s disc and from what was learned during the interrogation of Dr. Garaki and the escaped prisoners Izuku helped capture. They conclude that All For One intends to take One For All before Tomura Shigaraki’s body is ready, and that the timeline is dangerously short. Going over the findings with Naomasa Tsukauchi, All Might learns that the consciousnesses inside One For All have been communicating through radio waves, and the resulting analysis narrows the remaining time to 38 days.

Because they need time to prepare defenses against the League, All Might, Hawks, and Endeavor appeal to the United Nations for help from foreign heroes. The request stalls, but then the U.S. representative reveals that their No. 1 hero, Star and Stripe, has already departed for Japan with her fighter escort after receiving a personal plea from the man she calls her master. The episode ends with the clear sense that major reinforcements are already in motion, even though the international response has not yet been formally approved.
