My Hero Academia Episode 14: That`s the Idea, Ochaco
As U.A. students and teachers recover from the League of Villains attack on USJ, Izuku learns about why Ochaco wants to become a hero.
Full recap
News reports detail the attack on U.A. High's hero course students by the League of Villains, stating the criminals intended to kill All Might. Seventy-two criminals were arrested, but the leader escaped. All Might writes a letter to his former teacher, who then muses about the boy mentioned in the letter.
U.A. is closed the day after the attack. Faculty members meet with Police Force Investigator Tsukauchi to discuss the League of Villains. Investigator Tsukauchi admits that despite the arrests, he found no information on the perpetrators. All Might notes that the ringleader displayed a childlike mindset and a reckless plan. The investigator suggests that criminals might view this individual as a leader due to the pressure heroes put on villains. Principal Nezu proposes that this individual is being guided towards villainy in a similar way U.A. students are guided towards heroism.
That night, Izuku lifts weights, contemplating how to master his power, until his mother calls him for dinner. The next morning in Class 1-A, students discuss their appearances on the news due to the attack. Mister Aizawa arrives, bandaged, and declares his injuries irrelevant because the U.A. Sports Festival is approaching. Some students worry about the timing, but Mister Aizawa explains its importance as a highly-viewed event and a major opportunity for students to be scouted by professional Hero Agencies.
At lunchtime, Class 1-A students decide to focus on the Sports Festival. Ochaco appears particularly excited, putting on a determined face and announcing her intention to do her best. Later, she walks with Izuku and Tenya, and Izuku asks about her motives for attending U.A.'s hero course. She awkwardly admits she wants to become a hero for the money, surprising Izuku. She explains her family's construction company is struggling financially. Izuku and Tenya point out that her power could reduce business expenses if she were licensed, and her family could sell their equipment. Ochaco agrees but recalls her father encouraging her to follow her own dreams. Izuku and Tenya are inspired by her ambition, and Izuku acknowledges her practical reason for becoming a hero.
All Might suddenly appears and asks Izuku to join him for lunch. Tenya and Ochaco go to the mess hall without Izuku, discussing his relationship with All Might, which piques the interest of another student who is listening. Izuku and All Might meet in a lounge, where All Might reveals he can now only maintain his hero form for about fifty minutes. Izuku tries to console him, but All Might laughs it off and asks about Izuku's progress. Izuku tells him he used his power against a person for the first time without breaking his arm. All Might congratulates him but reminds him to hurry and become the new symbol of peace, stating the Sports Festival will be his debut as the next All Might.
