My Hero Academia Episode 6: Rage, You Damn Nerd
Izuku somehow gets through his first day of school and falls into a regular schedule of classes and training at U.A. In their first class with All Might...
Full recap
The episode opens immediately after Izuku Midoriya's powerful finger-flick throw during the Quirk Assessment Test, hurling a softball over 700 meters and breaking his finger in the process. Classmates like Ochaco Uraraka and Tenya Iida express awe and concern over his sudden display of power, while Katsuki Bakugo reacts with shock and fury, demanding to know how the formerly quirkless Izuku could hide such strength all these years.
Bakugo charges at Izuku in rage, accusing him of lying about being quirkless since childhood, but their teacher Shota Aizawa intervenes, wrapping Bakugo in his capture weapon scarf and revealing his own Quirk that erases others' powers as long as his eyes stay open. Aizawa dismisses the class, reveals no one is being expelled despite Izuku ranking last—the threat was just motivation—and sends Izuku to Recovery Girl, who heals his finger but drains his stamina as a side effect.
Outside, All Might confronts Aizawa, calling him out for once expelling a whole class, but Aizawa explains he only expels those below zero potential and sees a spark in Izuku. The first school day ends with core classes, lunch, and hero training; an exhausted Izuku bumps into Tenya and Ochaco, feeling happy to have made friends, and Ochaco encourages him to embrace "Deku" as his hero name since it sounds like "dekiru" (meaning "you can do it").
All Might begins Battle Training in custom hero costumes, pairing teams by lot: Izuku and Ochaco as heroes (Team A) versus Katsuki and Tenya as villains (Team D) in a building exercise where heroes must capture a fake bomb or touch it, while villains defend. Katsuki and Tenya enter first, find the bomb, and Katsuki vents frustration to Tenya about Izuku's hidden Quirk.
The match starts; Izuku and Ochaco enter via a window. Izuku, knowing he can't fully use his power without self-injury again, relies on strategy and notes he's taken on Katsuki since childhood. Katsuki ambushes, shattering Izuku's mask with an explosion, but Izuku dodges the follow-up, grabs Katsuki's arm mid-punch, and flips him forcefully to the ground using his knowledge of Katsuki's predictable aggressive style. Izuku declares "Deku" his hero name and stands firm, declaring his perseverance, leaving Katsuki shaken on the floor as the episode ends.
