My Hero Academia Episode 64: The Scoop on U.A. Class 1-A

At the Juko News office, the Editor-in-Chief expresses frustration that their paper is behind on reporting All Might's retirement. A freelance journalist named Taneo Tokuda arrives, offering to help craft a compelling story. He analyzes All Might's final message after his fight, suggesting it wasn't a warning to villains as commonly believed, but rather a message to a chosen student at U.A. High School, indicating it's "their turn" to take up his mantle.

Taneo initially considered Mirio Togata of The Big 3 as the successor. However, noting the end of All Might's partnership with Sir Nighteye, Taneo now believes the successor is in Class 1-A. The Editor-in-Chief agrees to secure permission for Taneo to interview Class 1-A, in exchange for an exclusive scoop.

Taneo later arrives at Heights Alliance to interview Class 1-A. Shota Aizawa explains that Principal Nezu granted permission, believing it would reassure parents and guardians to see the students happily settled in the dorms. Taneo introduces himself, stating he will photograph their daily lives and ask questions. He reminds Aizawa that the principal instructed him not to interfere with his reporting. Aizawa, sensing Taneo might have an ulterior motive, allows him to proceed. Taneo records the students' daily routines and reviews their Quirks. After his observations, he narrows down the potential successor to Izuku Midoriya.

Later that afternoon, in the rain, All Might visits the Class 1-A dorms with snacks. He encounters Izuku, who is training outside. Izuku asks about his well-being, and All Might explains he had a regular hospital check-up. On his way back to U.A., he bought snacks from a store where the owner, delighted by his presence, gave him all the meat buns he wanted and an umbrella. They then discuss Izuku's future role in surpassing the Symbol of Peace, and All Might promises to begin training him the next day.

Taneo, having observed their conversation, approaches Izuku after All Might leaves. He tells Izuku he is a fan of All Might and grateful for his actions. Taneo asks if Izuku knows about a bombing 18 years ago at an industrial complex. Izuku confirms he does, recalling it as an event where All Might saved all the workers. Taneo reveals his father was one of those workers, and he was present when All Might rescued him. Overjoyed to see his father safe, Taneo accidentally took a picture of the scene. He explains that All Might not only saved his father but also inspired him to become a photographer and writer about heroes.

Taneo confesses his worry about the rising evil in the absence of the Symbol of Peace but believes there is still hope. He then shows Izuku a snapshot of him talking to All Might from moments earlier. Izuku is surprised, as Taneo doesn't have a visible camera and has already printed the photo. Taneo explains his Quirk, Whole-Body Lens, allows him to take pictures from lenses that can appear anywhere on his body. Taneo then shares how he deduced Izuku was All Might's successor, citing various pieces of evidence, including a conversation he had with Kota Izumi.

Despite correctly identifying Izuku as the successor, Taneo decides not to publish the story, out of respect for Izuku and admiration for All Might. He reveals his true, unstated reason for being there was to personally confirm that hope for the future existed despite All Might's retirement, and he thanks Izuku. Before leaving, Taneo takes a selfie with Izuku, promising to keep it hidden until he publishes a book about him. After Taneo departs, Ochaco Uraraka comes out to tell Izuku dinner is ready. She asks about his conversation with the reporter but quickly forgets the matter upon seeing that All Might brought meat buns for Class 1-A.

Taneo returns to Juko TV and pretends he did not discover All Might's successor, apologizing to the Editor-in-Chief for his initial assumption. Although he couldn't deliver the promised scoop, he offers a different story: All Might eating meat buns, which the Editor-in-Chief enthusiastically accepts.

Later, a character named Twice is seen driving another character, Overhaul, to the League of Villains.
