My Hero Academia Episode 88: His Start

Fuyumi and Natsuo Todoroki visit their mother, Rei, at Fujitani Hospital and bring her warmer clothes as the weather turns colder. Rei is happy to see them, and the family’s conversation is light at first: Fuyumi teases Natsuo about never being home, Natsuo praises their mother’s condition, and Rei mentions that Shoto has been writing to her regularly about his life at school and his friends.

The story then shifts to the aftermath of the new villain attack in Kyushu, where Endeavor and Hawks confront a powerful High-End Nomu in midair. High-End proves unusually dangerous: it can speak, moves quickly, and does not seem to be affected by Endeavor’s flames in the usual way. When the battle escalates, the Nomu destroys part of the building below, forcing Hawks to evacuate civilians with his feathers while also helping manage falling debris.

High-End releases smaller white Nomu that attack people on the ground, and Hawks uses his feathers to protect civilians while continuing to support Endeavor in the fight. The creature also figures out that Endeavor cannot keep using his strongest fire attacks indefinitely because they overheat and weaken him. Even so, Endeavor keeps pressing the attack and eventually unleashes a devastating blast to push the Nomu higher into the atmosphere, where he can burn it without endangering the city.

In the final phase of the battle, Endeavor commits everything to one last strike, and Hawks helps create the opening he needs. Endeavor incinerates High-End in a massive explosion of flame and then falls back to the ground, exhausted but still standing. The episode closes with Endeavor striking a victorious pose, signaling the beginning of his new role as the top hero.
