My Hero Academia Episode 99: Our Brawl

Season 5· canon

It's an all-out brawl as the last two teams from Class A and Class B fight it out to the finish!

Full recap

Izuku’s struggle with the power inside him is brought under control just enough for the Joint Training Battle to continue, and the episode turns into a final, chaotic showdown between the remaining members of Class 1-A and Class 1-B.

The episode opens with the aftermath of Izuku’s outburst: he is still fighting to steady himself after the strange black energy erupts from him, while Ochaco Uraraka tries to keep him from hurting himself or anyone else. Hitoshi Shinso helps by using his Brainwashing on Izuku to shut him down for a moment, and that brief opening lets Ochaco get through to him. Izuku asks Ochaco to trust him and let him handle Shinso, then he and Shinso clash directly while the rest of the teams continue battling around them.

As the wider fight resumes, Class 1-B still has several fighters trying to press their advantage, but Class 1-A’s remaining members keep pushing back. Ochaco takes on Monoma and quickly sees through his attempt to fake confidence, pinning him down and taking him out of the match. Elsewhere, the combat spreads into a full brawl as both sides abandon their earlier plans and fight to secure captures any way they can.

Izuku and Shinso’s confrontation becomes the emotional center of the episode. Shinso is eager to prove himself in a real rematch, and he keeps pressing Izuku while Izuku tries to fight in a controlled way instead of letting his power run wild. During the fight, Izuku is pulled into a strange inner space where he encounters one of the previous users connected to his power, who tells him that something new is beginning to emerge within it and that he will need to stay calm to use it properly. When he returns to the battle, he begins to understand the new strength that has appeared, but he still has trouble controlling it fully.

Back in the arena, the final exchanges decide the match. Izuku and Ochaco coordinate to keep Shinso from turning the tide, while the other Class 1-A members finish off the remaining Class 1-B fighters. Izuku briefly manages to use the strange new black energy with conscious control, but the strain is too much and he drops back to a weaker state soon after. With Class 1-B unable to recover, Class 1-A wins the round and the overall Joint Training Battle.

The episode ends with the match’s outcome secured and the students left to absorb what just happened in the fight, especially Izuku’s unexpected new power and what it means for him going forward.
