One-Punch Man Episode 17: Martial Arts Tournament

A Monster Association attack is raging across multiple cities while Saitama enters the martial arts tournament under Charanko’s name and begins advancing through the bracket. The episode alternates between the tournament and the monster crisis, with several heroes fighting monsters in the city and Garou’s battle continuing outside the arena.

At the start of the episode, Metal Knight attacks Elder Centipede with missiles, but the blasts fail to damage the monster. Nearby, Metal Bat and Garou continue their brutal fight; Garou appears to have won, but he admits Metal Bat would have beaten him if he had landed even one clean hit. Metal Bat then rises again and nearly takes Garou out from behind, but he stops when Zenko, his younger sister, shows up. Garou prepares to strike, but Zenko steps between them and reminds Metal Bat of his promise not to fight violently in front of her. Garou backs off because he has a soft spot for children, and he leaves to look for Watchdog Man.

Metal Bat tries to keep fighting Elder Centipede, but he collapses from the damage he has already taken in battle. Elsewhere, two C-Class heroes escorting Narinki and Waganma are confronted by Rhino Wrestler; both heroes are quickly defeated, and Waganma is captured by the monsters. Sludge Jellyfish tries to crawl toward Zenko to use her as a hostage, but Garou blasts him apart before he can do anything. Garou readies himself for another fight, but Phoenix Man calls for a ceasefire instead. The monsters try to recruit Garou, but he refuses. Phoenix Man says they will meet again if Garou keeps hunting heroes, then orders the monsters to withdraw; Elder Centipede and the others retreat, and Metal Knight clings to Elder Centipede as it leaves.

Bang and Bomb are still searching for Garou, and Bang vents his frustration on a monster named Fist Fight Djinn, killing him violently. The episode then shifts to the Super Fight tournament, where the opening match is between Lightning Max and Ling-Ling. The field of competitors is introduced, including several martial artists with unusual names, and Genos appears in the audience to watch Saitama, who is competing under the name Charanko. Former champions Bakuzan and Suiryu are also present, and Suiryu says he would like to face the winner of the previous tournament.

Saitama’s first tournament match is against Zakos, and he wins instantly by slapping him to the floor. Because of that, he remains one of the lower-ranked competitors and must keep winning to move up in the standings. In the city, Bang later helps a group of A-Class heroes who are struggling against another monster. In a separate location, Fubuki and her group attack a whip-wielding monster woman whose power lets her control anyone she strikes. The tournament continues with Lightning Max defeating Ling-Ling, while the surrounding chaos of monster attacks carries on alongside the competition.
