Prison Break Episode 14: The Rat

Michael’s escape plan collapses when the repaired pipe blocks the route from the utility area to the infirmary, forcing Michael, Sucre, T-Bag, C-Note, and Westmoreland to retreat without being caught. As they scramble back to their cells, the prison quietly shifts from escape mode to execution day, with Lincoln’s fate now hanging on any last-minute delay Michael can create.

Back inside the prison, Michael learns that if the electric chair malfunctions, Lincoln’s execution will be postponed for weeks while it is repaired. He takes that as Lincoln’s best chance to survive and decides to sabotage the chair’s power supply by using a rat to short out the electrical system.

Outside the prison, Veronica and Nick continue trying to stop the execution through legal channels. They bring their case before a judge and push for a stay or other order that might force a review of the evidence, while Sara also tries to persuade her father, the governor, to intervene on Lincoln’s behalf.

Michael’s plan nearly works, but it is exposed before it can create the delay he needs. One of the inmates overhears Michael talking about the electricity plan and reports it to Captain Bellick, who orders the chair fixed immediately, even though that means bypassing the normal process.

As the execution hour approaches, Lincoln is allowed final goodbyes. He speaks with his son by phone, says farewell to Michael and Veronica, and resigns himself to what is about to happen.

At the last moment, the governor rejects the clemency request, and Lincoln is taken to the execution chamber. The episode ends with Lincoln being placed in the electric chair while Michael’s effort to buy more time has failed.
