Prison Break Episode 56: Hell or High Water

Michael, Whistler, Mahone, and McGrady finally carry out their escape from Sona, but the plan becomes chaotic when the prison lockdown and the guard response do not unfold exactly as expected.

As the escape begins, Lechero, T-Bag, and Bellick rush toward the fence and are captured by the guards, while Michael uses that chaos as cover to slip away with Whistler, Mahone, and McGrady instead. The escapees make it out of the prison grounds and reach Lincoln waiting on the beach, where they learn that the book with the coordinates has been lost. They use oxygen tanks and breathing gear to swim underwater to a buoy offshore, expecting Sucre to meet them, but he does not arrive.

McGrady’s father appears by boat and picks up the group, but McGrady leaves with him, separating from the others. Lincoln, Michael, Whistler, and Mahone are then pursued by Gretchen’s men, who track them by means of a GPS device hidden in Whistler’s watch. The fugitives discover the tracking device, turn the tables, and set up a gunfight that allows them to get away.

Back at Sona, Sucre is held in custody, and T-Bag recognizes him and reveals his identity to the guards. The episode ends with Whistler breaking away from Michael and Lincoln, leaving them without the leverage they need for their planned negotiation with Gretchen.
