Reacher Episode 20: Dominique

Reacher meets Duffy and Villanueva near Quinn’s location, and Duffy presses him to explain how he knows Quinn and why Quinn matters so much to him. The episode then shifts mostly into a long flashback that shows Reacher’s earlier work as a military investigator and introduces Sergeant First Class Dominique Kohl, the capable assistant assigned to work with him on a sensitive case.

In the flashback, Reacher and Kohl investigate a soldier who is leaking military secrets because he is being threatened by a military intelligence officer. Their investigation leads them to Xavier Quinn, who is selling classified information to a Syrian buyer. Reacher and Kohl use pressure on the Syrian contact to gather enough evidence to move against Quinn.

When the team tries to arrest Quinn, the operation goes badly: a private is found dead, and Kohl disappears. Reacher realizes Quinn has taken her, and the search ends with Reacher finding Kohl after she has been tortured and killed. Reacher then confronts Quinn at his remote property, but Quinn escapes the full consequences of that encounter, which explains why Reacher has believed him dead for years.

After the flashback, the episode returns to the present, where Reacher finally tells Duffy and Villanueva the painful story of what happened to Kohl and why Quinn is such a dangerous enemy. The DEA agents continue working through the case with Reacher’s account now informing their search, and the episode ends by setting up the next confrontation.
