Rick and Morty Episode 26: The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy

Rick takes Jerry on a forced “sympathy adventure” to a space resort enclosed by an immortality field, where neither of them can die while inside. Jerry soon learns the trip is partly meant to keep him occupied after Morty asked Rick to help him, and the two spend time together at the resort before Jerry is approached by an alien named Risotto Groupon, who blames Rick for the destruction of his people’s world.

Risotto recruits Jerry into a plan to kill Rick using the Whirly Dirly, a roller coaster that briefly leaves the immortality field on one section of track. Jerry initially goes along with the scheme, but after Rick drunkenly admits he helped drive Jerry and Beth apart, Jerry backs out at the last moment. The attempt goes badly anyway, causing chaos on the ride and destroying the Whirly Dirly’s track section.

Afterward, Rick and Jerry are stranded together and forced to confront their resentment. Rick angrily accuses Jerry of acting helpless and relying on other people to validate him, while Jerry finally pushes back. The two escape the resort and return toward Earth, but Risotto ambushes them and tries to finish the job. Rick outwits him and kills him, then brings Jerry home with him.

Back on Earth, Rick briefly softens toward Jerry and seems to acknowledge some of their shared damage, but he still refuses to let Jerry move back in with the family.

Meanwhile, Summer is dumped by her boyfriend Ethan, who leaves her for a girl with larger breasts. Upset and desperate to win him back, Summer uses one of Rick’s devices to enlarge her chest, but the attempt goes wrong and she grows into a giant, awkwardly proportioned version of herself. Beth tries to fix the problem without Rick’s help, but each attempt makes things worse, including turning Summer inside out.

Beth eventually calls for technical support on the device and accidentally frees three tiny workers trapped inside it. Morty, fed up with Beth’s stubbornness, takes charge and learns how the machine works. He restores Summer to normal, then uses the device to deform Ethan in revenge for how he treated her.
