Rick and Morty Episode 27: Rest and Ricklaxation

Rick and Morty escape a brutal six-day adventure and stop at an alien spa to recover, where they use a detox machine that removes their “toxins” from their bodies. The machine does more than they expect: the discarded negative traits become separate, living versions of themselves trapped in the spa’s storage tank, while the cleaned-up Rick and Morty return to Earth noticeably calmer and more confident.

Back home, the altered Morty’s new self-assurance makes him suddenly popular at school, and he begins attracting girls, including Jessica’s attention. Clean Rick is also kinder and more considerate than usual, but both cleaned versions have lost something important in the process: they are no longer as emotionally attached or driven by their usual flaws.

The toxic versions inside the tank realize what has happened and start plotting revenge. They trick Clean Rick into bringing the tank back to Earth under the pretense of reuniting their personalities, but the plan starts to fall apart when Clean Morty refuses to accept his toxic half back.

During the chaos, the toxic versions are released, and another girl named Stacy gets trapped in the machine instead. Toxic Rick then takes the conflict further by trying to remake Earth into a world full of toxicity using a moonlight tower-like device, forcing Clean Rick into a desperate counterattack.

Clean Rick figures out that Toxic Rick still carries one of the genuine Rick’s softer traits: his care for Morty, which the toxic side had preserved as a weakness. Rick uses that weakness against him by poisoning Toxic Morty, which pushes Toxic Rick to merge back with the cleaned-up version in order to save him.

The episode ends with the true Rick restored, while Morty rejects remerging with his toxic half and chooses to keep living without it.
