Rick and Morty Episode 28: The Ricklantis Mixup

Rick and Morty are interrupted in their garage by another Rick and Morty asking for donations to rebuild the Citadel of Ricks, which Rick refuses before the pair leave for Atlantis. The episode then shifts entirely to the Citadel, where different groups of Ricks and Mortys are shown dealing with its aftermath, a new election, crime, labor, and social unrest.

On the Citadel, a Morty runs for president against several Ricks and quickly becomes an unexpectedly strong candidate, building support with a campaign centered on unity and change. At the same time, a rookie Rick cop is paired with a Morty partner in a corrupt police system, and they investigate Morty-related crime and violence in the Citadel’s poorer districts. Another storyline follows a group of delinquent Mortys as they chase rumors of a “wishing portal” and get drawn into danger.

The episode also shows factory workers in a bleak industrial setting, where one Rick grows increasingly angry and violent under harsh conditions. Political tension rises as the presidential race reaches its final stages, with the Morty candidate gaining momentum and ultimately winning the election. Near the end, the Citadel’s public order breaks down further as violence erupts, and the Morty’s victory is followed by a shocking turn that leaves the Citadel in chaos.
