Rick and Morty Episode 60: A Rick in King Mortur's Mort
Things are heating up, y'know what I mean, broh?
Full recap
Morty becomes fascinated by a rare food pop-up and stops to help a pair of armored knights after one of them drops a sandwich. One of the knights, Sir Helios, offers Morty his sword and invites him to become a Knight of the Sun, and Morty accepts after some hesitation and Rick’s skepticism.
Morty is taken to the Sun and introduced to a feudal society of Knights of the Sun who treat him as a prospective immortal champion. He is told that joining the order requires him to cut off his penis, which shocks him and makes him question the whole group’s traditions. When Morty refuses, the situation escalates into conflict with the Sun’s ruler.
Morty ends up defeating the King of the Sun and briefly taking his place. As king, he challenges the Knights’ beliefs and exposes the logic behind their customs, convincing them that their worldview is absurd and prompting them to give up their old ways. That decision has consequences across the solar system, where the collapse of the Knights’ authority helps trigger a larger conflict among planetary leaders.
Morty and Rick later discover the Knights have fallen into drug use and are no longer functioning. To restore order, Morty agrees to continue the ritual in name only, with Rick helping by creating a fake version of the required body part so Morty does not have to actually go through with the mutilation. Morty returns to the larger political crisis, helps bring the situation under control, and the episode ends with the Knights’ old practice effectively ending after the events spiral into chaos.
