Rick and Morty Episode 63: The Jerrick Trap
Rick teaches Jerry that he works smarter, not harder.
Full recap
Rick and Jerry argue over a missing rake, and the fight escalates when Jerry insults Rick’s intelligence and suggests Rick is wasting his brain. In response, Rick uses a device to swap their minds, putting his mind into Jerry’s body and Jerry’s mind into Rick’s body.
The experiment goes disastrously wrong almost immediately. Rick, trapped in Jerry’s body, is overwhelmed and kills himself, while Jerry, now in Rick’s body, cannot control Rick’s dangerous cybernetic enhancements and dies as well. Rick’s medical robot then restores them, but the repair leaves each of them with part of the other’s brain, creating a single blended state that combines both of their personalities and habits.
At the same time, Morty gets caught up with alien gangsters after a deal gone wrong. The gangsters eventually realize they have made a mistake and apologize to Rick, but before things can settle down, the half-Rick/half-Jerry pair goes to retrieve Morty and their constant bickering convinces the gangsters they are weak, which triggers a new attack.
Rick and Jerry, still merged, fight through the gangsters and make it back home with Morty. The episode plays this conflict as both a violent action sequence and a surreal personality mash-up, with Rick and Jerry unable to fully separate their identities even while trying to function together.
