Rick and Morty Episode 64: Air Force Wong

Rick is in therapy with Dr. Wong when President Curtis calls to ask for help dealing with the Loch Ness Monster, which has turned up in Lake Erie. Rick goes with him, and Curtis becomes openly infatuated with Dr. Wong, though Rick mostly keeps his distance and lets it play out.

Later, while Rick and Morty are watching *Interdimensional Cable*, Curtis calls again to bring Rick in on a new problem: reports that Virginia has fallen under the influence of a cult-like collective. Curtis also brings Dr. Wong along, which makes Rick suspicious that Curtis is trying to date her.

When they arrive, Rick discovers that Virginia has not been taken over by a cult at all, but by Unity, Rick’s former lover, who has assimilated the state’s population. Rick is angry that Unity has taken over Earth-adjacent territory despite their past understanding, and he begins trying to separate the people from her influence using a spray called “Separation.”

The situation escalates when the President uses a containment dome to isolate Virginia, but then becomes increasingly obsessed with approval and control. Dr. Wong’s presence keeps exposing how much Curtis is driven by ego and insecurity, and her influence leads her to challenge both men’s behavior. Curtis eventually hijacks the hive mind himself in an attempt to gain public approval, spreading the collective influence outward.

With the crisis out of control, Rick brings Dr. Wong to Unity and asks for help stopping Curtis. Unity agrees, and with Dr. Wong’s help, the hive mind is undone and the infected people are released, restoring normal life.

Afterward, Rick checks his voicemail and realizes Unity had left him several messages, which makes it clear that her decision to take over Virginia was partly driven by concern for him after he had been ignoring her. Later, Rick visits Curtis at the White House, they drink together, and Curtis admits he may need therapy.
