Rick and Morty Episode 66: Unmortricken

Season 7· aired 2023-11-12

Rick and Morty get stuck on a project.

Full recap

The episode opens with a flashback focused on **Evil Morty**, showing how he broke free of his Rick’s control and removed himself from the Citadel’s records before the story returns to the present day. From there, Rick and Morty continue their search for **Rick Prime**, and the episode becomes a violent multiverse chase that ends with Rick finally confronting and killing him.

The episode begins by showing Evil Morty’s past: he grows tired of being used by his Rick, builds a device that lets him control him, and wipes out traces of himself so he can disappear from the Citadel’s system. In the present, Rick and Morty are using one of Rick Prime’s own methods to try to track him down, but their search disrupts Evil Morty’s quiet life outside the Central Finite Curve. Evil Morty intervenes and ends up helping them, since Rick Prime’s traps are affecting him too.

The three of them trace the hunt into one of Rick Prime’s decoy setups, where they are captured and thrown into a brutal prison-like death trap with a group of angry Ricks who all want revenge. Rick Prime’s trap forces the Ricks into conflict with one another, and the survivors learn that Rick Prime has built the **Omega Device**, a weapon capable of erasing targets across the multiverse. Rick Prime has already used it to erase Diane, Rick’s wife, from existence.

After escaping the trap, Rick uses the prison’s fluid system to pinpoint Rick Prime’s location, and he decides to go after him alone, but the Mortys follow him anyway. They reach Rick Prime’s base and are attacked again, and Rick Prime uses the Omega Device on Slow Mobius, one of the Ricks in the fight, which pushes the conflict into a much more desperate battle. Rick Prime overpowers Rick and knocks him out, then moves to kill Morty.

Before that can happen, Evil Morty steps in and incapacitates Rick Prime. He then takes the schematics for the Omega Device and destroys Rick Prime’s backup clones, making sure Rick Prime cannot simply return through another body. Rick is revived and brought face to face with the helpless Rick Prime, who tries to talk his way out of it and explain that he is the reason Rick became involved in multiverse travel in the first place. Rick answers by brutally beating Rick Prime to death with his bare hands.

Afterward, Evil Morty warns Rick not to come after him and leaves with the Omega Device schematics and Rick Prime’s remaining threat removed. Morty comforts Rick as they return home, while Rick is left visibly changed by what happened and sits with the aftermath of finally getting his revenge.

In the post-credits scene, Slow Mobius’s wife begins her own revenge journey, but she ends up meeting an alien who has also lost his wife, and the two choose to build a new life together as a family.
