Rick and Morty Episode 70: Mort: Ragnarick
Rick seeks the infinite. Morty tries to help.
Full recap
Rick learns that the afterlife exists after repeatedly killing Jerry in experiments, and he becomes interested not in heaven itself but in the unlimited energy he believes can be harvested there. To reach Valhalla, he and Morty travel to Norway, where Rick has set up a facility and arranged for Bigfoot to kill him so he can enter the warrior afterlife on purpose.
Once in Valhalla, Rick begins trying to exploit the afterlife’s energy, but the situation quickly spirals out of control as other dead warriors, Bigfoot, and eventually the Pope become involved. Morty follows Rick into the afterlife as part of the plan, and the episode turns into a chaotic battle around Rick’s attempt to connect an energy relay and capitalize on Valhalla’s power.
The conflict escalates further when the Pope’s side gets involved in the struggle for control of the afterlife’s energy, undermining Rick’s scheme and turning the whole operation into a mess of fighting, cloning, and competing agendas. By the end of the episode, the heist-like plan has collapsed into a broad conflict over Valhalla’s power rather than a clean scientific breakthrough.
