Rick and Morty Episode 81: Hot Rick

Rick returns home after spending time with a new alien woman and finds that Jerry has an unusually high opinion of him. He quickly realizes that a version of himself has been meddling with Jerry’s memories, and he pulls that memory-manipulating Rick out of Jerry’s mind and traps him in a device where he can no longer influence anyone.

Once the family situation is under control, Rick decides he wants to stop carrying the memory of Diane around inside his own head. He begins removing that memory, but the memory version of Rick tries to interfere and get back to her, forcing the conflict to spread beyond Rick’s own mind.

The memory meddling then moves into Beth’s memories, where the family is pulled into a deeper and more unstable situation as Beth starts trying to understand and recover what has been affected. As the episode escalates, Rick’s attempts to deal with his grief and the memory version of himself create increasingly chaotic consequences for the family, culminating in Beth becoming directly entangled in the memory conflict.

In the post-credits scene, Mr. Poopybutthole speaks to the audience about the season, only for the scene to reveal that he is being watched from an unknown lab by Amy, who believes he may be an alternate version of her husband.
