Ted Lasso Episode 12: Lavender

Ted spends much of the episode trying to handle **Jamie Tartt’s** unexpected return to his orbit while also adjusting to **Dr. Sharon Fieldstone** joining the club. Higgins has hired Sharon for the season, and Ted initially tries to win her over with friendliness, but she is more interested in observing his coaching methods than in socializing.

Jamie, who has been kicked off the reality show he was on and is out of options after Manchester City does not want him back, comes to Ted at a pub and asks for another chance at AFC Richmond. When Ted asks why he left Manchester City in the first place, Jamie admits he did it to annoy his demanding father. Ted understands why Jamie made that choice, but he still refuses to bring him back, and Jamie accepts the rejection.

A fan photographs Ted and Jamie together and posts it, which makes people around the club think Ted is secretly planning to re-sign him. During training, Sam refuses to properly train because he assumes Jamie is coming back and will be allowed to bully him again, but Ted tells him Jamie is not returning. Even so, Ted brings the question to Higgins, Beard, and Nate, arguing that Jamie deserves another chance. Higgins supports the idea, while Beard and Nate oppose it.

Roy’s storyline runs alongside this. He has started a new job as a coach for a girls’ team, and he is upset when they lose a championship. Separately, on his first day working at Sky Sports, he causes problems by swearing heavily on live television.

Ted continues trying to connect with Sharon, and by nightfall she gives him blunt feedback about the team’s situation. She points out that Richmond’s long run of draws should concern him and that he needs to decide what is best for the club, not just what feels good personally. The next day, the club is surprised when Jamie shows up for training, having been accepted by Ted after all.
