Ted Lasso Episode 23: Smells Like Mean Spirit

Ted takes Henry to Heathrow Airport and says goodbye as Henry flies back to Kansas. Back at his apartment, Ted cleans up after Henry’s visit and calls Sharon to talk through his day.

At Richmond, Rebecca and Higgins learn that the pundits are predicting AFC Richmond will finish last in the Premier League, while West Ham is being tipped near the top. The team is visibly shaken by the prediction, and Rebecca is especially furious because she does not want to lose to Rupert.

Ted tries to lift morale by reminding the players not to internalize outside opinions, but the team remains demoralized. To help them reset, he takes the squad on an unusual field trip into London’s sewer system, where he turns the lesson into a metaphor about letting negativity pass through them instead of letting it poison the group.

While things are still tense, Keeley has begun working full-time on her new PR firm, KJPR, and she tells Rebecca that the work is leaving her stressed and with very little free time. That same night, Keeley and Roy tell Phoebe that they have broken up; Roy blames their busy schedules, but Keeley seems to think the real issue goes deeper than that.

The episode ends with Ted speaking to Henry by phone. Henry mentions that his mother’s “friend,” Jake, bought him an Infinity Gauntlet toy, and Ted is clearly unsettled by that revelation.
